By Zena Henry Minister of Public Works Robeson Benn says that the young man who accused him of getting him locked up for heckling was disorderly and rude. To back up his story, the Minister pointed Kaieteur News to two eyewitnesses whom he said could vouch for his side of events.The Public Works Minister was accused by a 32-year-old gold miner, Andrew John Stone, of using his Ministerial influence to get him locked up overnight for predicting that the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) government will lose the next general elections.Specialist Engineer/ Chief Mechanical Engineer of the Transport and Habours Department Clinton Hazel told Kaieteur News Wednesday that he was a part of the team of persons visiting the Parika Stelling with Minister Benn last Sunday.Hazel said that while the Minister’s entourage was conducting their work, the young man while passing said to the Minister in a “very derogatory manner”, “Mr. Benn ya’ll gone lose de elections next time.”He said that the fellow “went on” and made other rude and disorderly remarks towards the Minister before saying, “When ya’ll lose you gon get poor like me,Maillot Psg Femme, wha’ you gon do?”Hazel said the fellow continued to raise his voice and behaved disorderly, “even when he went to join the boat, we could still hear him.” Hazel added that when the man (Stone) was addressing Benn he did not address him as Minister but was instead calling him “Robeson Benn and Benn….by his full name.”Hazel said he was surprised at the way Stone was addressing the Minister and suggested to the Minister that he “could not have citizens speaking to him in that manner,” as he was a representative of the Government. The Minister then got security persons at the Stelling to contact the police and they went to take Stone off the Bartica-bound boat. But when the Minister told Stone to get out of the boat he refused, and asked, “wha? Ya’ll gon shoot me?” According to Hazel,Bayern Trikot Ausw?rts 18/19, Stone’s behaviour was uncalled for.Another witness who requested to remain anonymous said that he fully supports the Minister’s position.The former military personnel told Kaieteur News that it was about four persons including the Minister who were at the Stelling about salvaging a sunken tanker. He said that Minister Benn was briefing them about their work when the gentleman, with food in his mouth,Tee Shirt Psg Femme, walked by and said, “Robeson Benn yuh lying to de people, why you lying to de people? Ya’ll think ya’ll powerful, ya government gone get vote out.”The eyewitness said that the Minister ignored the young man but he continued to throw remarks at the Minister in a louder and disorderly fashion. Minister Benn he said, replied by saying, “Comrade, comrade.”The witness recalled the gentleman continuing to be loud and unmannerly; this time using indecent language. By this time,Blank Trikot Bayern M?nchen, the unruly young man started towards the boat area, but was still very loud and abusive. The eyewitness continued that the Minister then decided that the gentleman was being too disruptive, and asked that the police be called in. He said since none of those present had a number for the police, the Minister’s driver was sent to get them. During that time, Minister Benn reportedly went down to the boat area and asked the young man why he was behaving in that manner and that his behaviour was very bad.The reply was, “Wha you gon do? You gon kill me, y’all think ya’ll bad.”? It was at that point, the eyewitness continued, Minister Benn asked the boat operator to hold the boat for the police to take the man away. The police officers were briefed by the Minister before the gentleman was asked to disembark the boat. Even then he refused until other persons on the Stelling encouraged him to go with the police officers, the witness said.Minister Benn said that the young man was very unmannerly and the police had to be called in.Although eyewitnesses say the man had on several occasions used indecent language,Maillot Psg Femme Pas Cher, Benn said the youngster cursed under his breath while exiting the Bartica boat, but he did not hear. Someone told him that the man had used abusive language.As far as he is concerned,Maillot Psg Pas Cher, Minister Benn said he thought the police would have placed Stone on a bench for some time to teach him a lesson and then let him go.Stone was locked up for some 24 hours earlier this week before being placed on $10,000 bail. He was released without being charged.
