The utility pole which has been leaning dangerously on the Farm, East Bank Demerara public road for over a year has finally been fixed.The unstable pole was featured on the front page of Kaieteur News last month.Members of the Farm community and neighbouring Herstelling,Man Utd Away Kit 2018/19, who were scared that the pole might fall,Camiseta Fc Barcelona 2018, injuring persons from their community,Neues Bayern Trikot 2018/19, were calling on the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) to replace the pole.Kaieteur News however,Deportivas Asics Hombre Baratas, was made to understand that the pole which was almost uprooted as a result of an accident belongs to the Ministry of Public Works and not the Guyana Power and Light.This was confirmed by Terrence Obrien from the said Ministry.“A Tundra slammed into this thing after it hit down a lady. My grandson does got to walk past it steady because he does go to de Masjid on the road” an elderly Bibi Hassan had told Kaieteur News.The woman said that she called GPL a few times regarding the matter but was never told that it was the Ministry was responsible.Several other members of the community had shared the same fear and were calling on the relevant authorities to take action before it was too late.Nevertheless, residents expressed gratitude to the Ministry as they can now rest assured that the pole is no longer a threat to passersby.
